Cards

There is some disagreement as to which came first Tarot for Divination or Playing Cards for Pleasure. One theory is that mystical symbols where collected onto a series of cards, the less initiated used them for games. The other is that gaming cards came first and people began associating them with events.
In either case a deck consists of four suits, each with a mirror in the other:
 
Tarot - Cups, wands/rods, pentacle/coins and swords
Game - Heart, Clubs, diamonds and spades.
 
The Tarot deck has four face cards in it's Minor Arcana (Page, knight, queen and king) while the gaming cards dropped the page, thus having only three.
