We knead to bake!
The Saint Paul Bread Club will have a bake-off on Saturday, April 23, where members can demonstrate their skills at baking bread at home.
Membership in the club is free and open to the public. Bread bakers with any level of experience are welcome. Membership in the club is open to anyone interested in bread.
We will meet for the bake-off on Saturday, April 23, at 3 p.m. at the St. Agnes Baking Co., 644 Olive St. in downtown Saint Paul.
Judging of entries will be done by a panel of judges selected by Klecko. Breads will be judged on taste, texture, and appearance.
There will be six bread categories, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes in each. There will also be a grand prize for the best bread in any category. Entries by children will be in separate, but parallel categories.
The Bake-Off has six declared categories:
You can enter multiple categories, but only one entry per category. Entries for the bake-off, a single loaf of bread (or a single recipe) baked at home, must be present by 3:30 p.m.
There are no entry fees.
There will an entry registration process where each entry will be assigned a number. Judges will be using the numbers to judge breads. The winners will be announced only after all the entries have been judged.
You do not need to bring anything to participate in the rest of the bread club meeting. We will have other demonstrations and samples of Harvest King flour to give away (courtesy of General Mills).
