Clinitex was a producer of orthopedic devices and specialty medical products many of which incorporated the benefits of Microban® antimicrobial product protection. The company has developed a unique technology, which is based on the active ingredient found in today's popular antibacterial soaps, shampoos, and deodorants. How does Microban® Built-In Protection work? Microban® protection is built-in to products during manufacture. It will not wash or wear out and is designed to last for the useful lifetime of the product. Once built-in, Microban® active ingredients begin to neutralize the ability of microbes to function, grow and reproduce. Because the active ingredients are uniformly dispersed, the benefits of a built-in antimicrobial are present and effective throughout the product, even in hard to clean areas, such as the cuts and scratches in chopping boards. Paints, of course, are surface coatings. Areas impacted by cuts and scratches deeper than the dry mil thickness of the paint film will no longer have the protection.
