The next meeting of the Twin Cities DCE Users Group will be held on September 12th, from 2-4 PM at the offices of United Healthcare at 5901 Lincoln Drive in Edina (The former Alliant Tech Systems Building).
We are very fortunate to have Ram Sudama, the Vice President of Technology at Open Environment Corporation as our speaker for this first meeting of the Twin Cities DCE User Group for the 1995-96 year.
Ram is one of the pioneers in the field of distributed computing. He has been the driving force behind the development of the OEC Entera product line which enables the development of three tier client/server applications. The Entera products are excellent examples of the power of this form of computing, and the ease of use that is essential to successful deployment.
Ram is responsible for research, development and strategic product technology direction at Open Environment Corp. He joined the company from a 12-year career at Digital Equipment Corporation, where he was technical director for the distributed processing engineering division. In this position, he helped develop the Open Software Foundation's Distributed Computing Environment (DCE), leading the project to deliver the industry's first DCE product. He also helped develop the display architecture used for Digital's highly successful line of video terminal products.
Mr. Sudama's previous positions include: systems architect, Exxon Enterprises; systems engineer, Data General Corporation; and software engineer Datatrol, Inc.
Mr. Sudama holds three patents on communications and distributed computing technology, and has three patents pending. He is co-author of the book Network Monitoring Explained: Design and Application.
He earned a master's degree in computer science from the National Technological University and a bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University.
