I have long intended to put into writing some data concerning our lives, which I hope may be of interest to our descendants when we are departed, and possibly to generations in the unseen future.

-- PS. 71:1

On July 26, 1869, my beloved wife, Mari Larsdatter, died, after an illness of 13 or 14 weeks, at the high age of 70 1/2 years.  She passed away peacefully, trusting in her Saviour.  Peace be with her.  God grant that I also may depart in peace when His hour comes.  Of this, it will be the duty of another to make note.

-- Knud S. Aaker

** Apparently an error as date of baptism is three days earlier than date of birth, but dates are given here as they appear in the original Norwegian edition of the Aaker family history.
