Painting for me began as a way to
become a better sculptor, but the more I did it, the more I valued the
opportunity to communicate ideas and express beauty in ways that sculpture
could not. Now I divide my time between architectural design, sculpture
and painting murals, portraits and landscapes.
I love doing portraits because they enable me to focus on the mystery of
how a soul expresses himself or herself through the features with which they were born and have changed through life experience.
Daily experiencing the ever-changing moods and light effects outdoors has helped shape my abilities in painting landscapes. It is a joyous, healing, and refreshing experience to meditate upon and translate the qualities that one appreciates in nature.
